Recovery

What a long long day....

Ella was in theatre for 9 hours and is currently still under close observation in the recovery room having one on one nursing.

Both the plastic surgeon and the orthopaedic consultant have spoken to me very positively about how well the operation went and how well contained the tumour and infection were.  They are confident they have removed everything they need to remove - tumour, bone muscle etc.  The tumour has gone off for further tests and the results should be back in about 8 days.  .They are looking to see how much is dead  (hopefully all of it) v how much is still alive, this is a key indicator of how well Ella has responded to the chemo.

She lost a lot of blood during the operation, but they have put a lot back in already (I wont nag tonight, too tired but a massive thank you to all those of you have recently signed up to give blood)

Ella is in fairly good spirits and was keen to hear who had been sending messages etc, she also made me write down a list of questions for her to ask the consultants tomorrow.  She has many tubes in and out of her and I have promised faithfully not to say where!  However, she did say I could mention her "fat lip" - due to having tubes in her mouth and down her throat for 9 hours.

So hopefully some sleep for all of us tonight and onwards again tomorrow.

Oh - lots of you seemed to want to know what I did all day. Well lots of time in Starbucks near the hospital (and the house with the shark in the roof - see below) drinking coffee and working on my lap top. A bus trip into town and a wander round the shops (freezing and I didn't buy anything), and just sitting in different places - waiting!  The wait was worth it it would seem :)
