You know that feeling where you could scream...........................

....................well we nearly did today.  That slow agonising waiting and waiting and not being able to do anything about it and yet another of many many endless days in hospital.

It took till 6pm to get Ella discharged from hospital.  The NHS at its very slowest and non urgent, although to be fair there was a lot to sort out:

Blood levels to be done - usual two hour wait to get results
Magnesium to be given
PICC line appointments to be booked
Discharge medicines to be ordered
Consultant wants to see Ella before discharge
Lots of talk about giving more blood - may have to go in for half a day on Friday for another pint!
Hand over to home care team - who are going to come every day and give intravenous anti biotics
Order all the dressings needed for the next two weeks

So on a wing and a prayer our girl is home and all is peaceful and calm at Allington Rd. Even Sophie is smiling and there is a general lift and lightness in atmosphere.

I have to say it feels very fragile in terms of keeping Ella well and safe and out of hospital till Jan 3 - wish us well and keep everything crossed that we manage it.

Bob was a real hero and did the afternoon shift today - but of course Ella is the real hero she is the one in there all the time.  Sophie is also a hero putting up with all the endless hospital/Ella centric hours.
