Back to the battle and a question

A difficult awakening this morning, the first day of a new way a way without Mum... but onwards back to full on focus with getting Ella and Sophie better.

As you know Sophie's battle is far more private than Ella's - hence the reason for little mention of it on the blog, but tomorrow is Friday so a "session" for Sophie and hopefully progress again...... but slowly, slowly.

A long day in and out of the hospital supporting Ella, trying to understand what all the various plans are.  Ella was very upset when I arrived at 8pm this evening, so I "demanded" a Doctor and a very lovely lady Doctor called Helen came and sat with us and talked at length. Lots going on,  but the key thing is that Ella is still neutropenic.   In brief this means that she has a very low (in fact 0 last weekend) white blood cell count - so her body is unable to fight infection despite being pumped with antibiotics.  The Doctor assured us  its just time and gradually Ella's white blood cell count will come back up - but no idea how long this will take. Once its back to a good level she will start to feel better.

So here we go another long hospital weekend, not great for any of us, but especially poor Ella.

Here is a question she has started to ask -  "Do I want to continue with this vile chemo regime"?
