.. Cycle Six started.
A complex cocktail of chemo - different bags, doses and mixes etc.
Some of these ones - are the ones that contributed to Ella being so ill back in January, when she ended up in intensive care. However, this time its a 40% reduction - so lets hope its the right strength to keep zapping the cancer cells - but keep her relatively well.
Today Ella signed up to be an ambassador for the Teenage Cancer Trust
Here in Bristol we don't have a unit/hospital that specifically supports teenagers and young adults - we need one and there are concrete plans and funds to establish one by 2014. Hopefully Ella can influence the project and design - after all she will know better than most what makes for a good stay or a bad stay in hospital and what support teenagers need to help them through treatment.
Note to self - must muster energy in due course and do something to raise money and awareness for this very important charity.
Thoughts, feelings and updates from Allington Rd (and various hospitals) - so you know, because I know you want to know. I started this blog in November 2011 - so there is a big archive section at the bottom of this page if you want to trawl through and get all the past news.
Thinking of you both, fingers crossed this cycle goes really well for Ella.
ReplyDeleteThe Teenage Cancer Trust is such a worthwhile charity; Guy ran the Brighton Marathon & fundraised for them for the last two years, but has too many 'injuries' to do it this year. Your blog has given me the motivation to start doing some more fundraising - I'll give it some thought. You don't need to muster energy to do something...you've all got enough to cope with at the moment. Let your friends do it for you...the least we can do! Kim xxx
Thanks Kim - all fundraising efforts greatly appreciated - keep us posted on what you decide to do

It will be a brilliant project for Ella to be involved in and has been great to hear her talking about it already. Also lovely for her to have been asked to be an ambassador. Will help all I can with fundraising too :) xxx Georgina
ReplyDeleteGeorge - your job is to keep pushing her on it.........you are so good at getting involved in things, so please kick her into touch whenever you can
