Dr D (Ella's oncologist) swung by her bed about 9 this morning and woke her up to say....
"Here is your revised chemo schedule - and if all goes to plan you will be finished by late June" So instead of 9 cycles, they have cut it back to 8.5!!! Planning under away to arrange for her second arm operation sometime in July.
June is not that far away (although today's dreadful weather makes it feel like summer is months away), and only 2.5 cycles to get through when this current one is over.
All of a sudden - we can see the end of treatment.
Are we elated - well yes and no? Terrified of raising hopes, to have them dashed away and apprehensive about the next stage and what that will be like. But there has always been hope and now that hope is beating a tiny bit stronger and if we let ourselves go there - it feels really nice.
Of course lots of unanswered questions, and as Ella unsurprisingly was still half asleep - not all the answers we would like.
Work in progress - watch this space...
Thoughts, feelings and updates from Allington Rd (and various hospitals) - so you know, because I know you want to know. I started this blog in November 2011 - so there is a big archive section at the bottom of this page if you want to trawl through and get all the past news.
