Run Amy Run

Good morning from a sunny Oxford,

I’m writing to let you know about a little adventure of mine that will be taking place on Sunday 14th October at 9.30am.

I am going to be running the Oxford half marathon that morning – which is less than two weeks away!

My aim of the run is to raise as much money as I can for Teenage Cancer Trust.

There are about 10 of us from St Hugh’s College running the half marathon for this cause: not only because it is a worthy charity – but for me it also has a more personal aspect.

Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity that has been able to help and support a friend of mine – the wonderful Ella – over the last year in dealing and battling with cancer.

Whilst the work and support offered was brilliant, Bristol does not have it’s own teenage cancer unit. So for teenagers like Ella in Bristol and South West area – the many many hospital visits were spent in the BRI’s oncology ward – where the average age is over 50. Having been able to see what a teenage cancer unit can do and look like and considering it is where patients spend a large majority of their life when going through treatment – for a 19 year to be able to spend it in an environment with similar aged people really would make a huge difference.

I’m pleased to be able to say that Ella is doing well, and will be coming to cheer us on at the sidelines on 14th October. If you also fancy coming along to watch and cheer – then please do! If the Bristol 10k I did is anything to go by – support on the side really does make those miles a bit easier.

If you would like to donate – and honestly every little helps –you can donate on our communal Just Giving page here:

If you want to find out any more about me, the cause I’m running for, or the run itself – please do get in touch. I’m hoping to finish the race in between 2 and 2half hours – but we will see what happens on the day!

If you have already sponsored me – don’t worry I’m not trying to get you to sponsor again! I just wanted to say thank you and thought you might like to know a little more about where and why I’m running.

That’s all for now,
Lots of love, and all the best,
Amy
