.... so there I was about 5.30pm this evening feeling rather sorry for myself, missing Ella, irritable with busy Asda shoppers and generally tearful and then - just like that - there was Maya, (one of Ella's friends) - beaming at me like a haven of loveliness. We hugged, and said lots of things including how much we both missed Ella, dodged Asda shopping trolleys being driven into us and generally hopped around from one foot to the other to keep warm before going our separate ways.
So thank you for sending my Maya this evening at just the right moment - how lovely was that?
I then trudged home with my bag of shopping and thought - come on Redman get a grip - that was a 3BT moment - have there been two more today and of course yes there has been:
1 - unexpected but very timely hug as above
2 - and still your cards and messages come - each one as lovely and helpful as the last
3 - seeing a family with young children rushing along to the local church, with gold crowns and "kings jewelled robes" adorning the children - obviously off to a nativity, the excitement levels were very high!
Did you have any any 3BT moments today?
Maya - fifth from the left - along with lots of other lovely girls
Thoughts, feelings and updates from Allington Rd (and various hospitals) - so you know, because I know you want to know. I started this blog in November 2011 - so there is a big archive section at the bottom of this page if you want to trawl through and get all the past news.

ReplyDeleteHow lovely it was to bump into you too! Not only did it make Asda a whole load more bearable (I had a grin on my face from seeing you), it was really lovely to talk about Ella also.
That was definitely one of my 3BTs! My others:
2.Cooking with my mum this evening - we chatted and drank wine and all the food was ready at the same time! And a bonus was that it tasted good!
3.Some lovely conversations with some friends in Montreal I'd not talked to in a while - they also put a smile on my face!
Lots of love, and hopefully see you soon!

1. Good company tonight over a good dinner in New Forest..... Just 3 of us.
ReplyDelete2. Promoting someone at work who fully deserved it and telling them face to face.
3. Driving through New Forest and stopping to allow the New Forest ponies to slowly walk before the car as sun set over the frosty moors around me
1.Beautifully stark winter trees against a stunning pale blue pearly sky, streaked with pink
ReplyDelete2. A satsuma that the skin came off almost all in one go, rather than in little slivers
3. Finding I did have a stamp after all, just as the post was about to go
Thanks for the reminder Jo, to appreciate the little things :)
Kids finished school today for summer so hooray for no routine for a while
ReplyDeleteMaking a beetroot salad with beetroots out of my garden
Getting a lovely hot coffee brought to me at my desk at 6.30am this morning
Good day!
1) Being waived on to the bus in the morning for free by the driver who was dressed as a Christmas Elf
ReplyDelete2) Eating the first mince pie of the season
3) Having no substitutes or missing items on my home delivered shopping
You're so inspirational, Jo. I'm going to make it a resolution (from now, not from New Year!) to summise each day with 3BT before bed. xx
From yesterday
ReplyDelete1. Walking along by the river after work with colleague and chuckling about events of the day on way to Tobacco factory.
2. Having cold glass of wine at TF with friends and laughing that those of us who had walked/cycled were there and everyone else travelling by car was stuck in traffic (concede that this was a laugh at others' expense but still funny)
3. More laughter...(if you haven't yet got a ticket for Hansel and Gretel get one ...it is really good)..Mike getting special praise for his duck impersonation...don't ask! Competetive? even has to outperform young children at a pantomime!
Good reminder Jo

1. You telling us that even in the storm of grief there can be little rays of sunshine. Thank you. x
ReplyDelete2. The customer service man in Sainsbury's singing Last Christmas.
3. Having a lie-in and a big cuddle with the cat.
My 3 BT's
ReplyDelete1) The news that 'daddy' (andy) was flying home earlier than planned and seeing Tommys and kezias faces full of sheer delight whilst exclaiming "only one more sleep until daddys home".
2) My mum & dad turning up unexpectedly to help me sort out a few 'jobs around the home'.....so giving and I/we are so lucky.
3) My friend Louise (established via kezias post natal group) inviting kezia and myself around impromptu to play and eat mince pies! An enjoyable hour having mutual friend therapy. Friends & food...a great combo!
Seem to have been in an off mood all day but when pushed to explain it can only think of one not-so beautiful thing but several contenders for real beautiful things! A very timely nudge to remind us to focuson the positives Jo.
ReplyDeleteSo, my 3 BT's
120 young children eventually remembering the words to 'Rule The World' for our school nativity play (Well Gary Barlow seems to be just about everywhere else we figured he was proabaly at the stable too...) Tempo still a bit off but all adds to the charm!
Hearing that both Simon and Max have managed to negotiate the work christmas do, which was held on a boat on the Thames with a free bar from 6.30, without feeling the temptation to jump/fall in!!
Seeing the christmas lights picked out by Aiden, aged 4, hung up outside his house. A total mish-mash of colours and styles but somehow so terribly right.

My 3 BT's
ReplyDelete1. Watching an elderly lady fill in a crossword on the train and exchanging a smile.
2. Being splashed by a car driving past a puddle. I tried to shield my legs with my Umbrella but it splashed me in the face instead. I appreciated the comedy of it. It was raining anyway.
3. Coming home to my mum's leek and potato soup
