Any good books?

We love to read.

I have just finished a fantastic book called "If nobody speaks of remarkable things" by Jon Mcgregor.  My friend Marion recommended it. Ella read it first and then it was my turn.  A fantastic book, a great story, relatively easy to read and beautifully written.  Perfect for whiling away endless hours in hospital and lots of sleepless nights.

Can you recommend any top reads/books that you think we might like?

  1. If you haven't read the lars Nilsson trilogy then you MUST... Girl with the dragon tattoo etc. and weirdly I've just finished the twilight series of four which surprised me no end in their compulsive reading - the films are rubbish but the writing was good. There that's 7 books to keep you going for a while xx

  2. They are by no means very cheery, but are captivating and exciting; the steig larrsson books (millenium trilogy, girl with a dragon tattoo etc.), I could not put them down! p.s don't know if you have already read them.

also, 'one good turn' by kate atkinson, is very good! a cheery/funny murder myster set in endinburgh.

My favourite book is 'rule of bone' by russel banks, anything he writes is interesting!this book is about a young boy who befriends a mysterious jamacan man, very good.

    lots of love maisy xxxxx

  5. Hi Jo - funnily enough have spoken to a few people recently about the book you mention, I couldn't get it at all and gave up but based on your comments I'll give it another go! I too like Kate Atkinson's books but have read them in the wrong order - I'll check out the titles and let you know. Shelagh xx
