A long long day

Ella is now fast asleep under a cocktail of anaesthetic drugs

She will be in theatre all day long - so now news till early evening.

They are going to take everything out of her upper arm (tumour, bone, muscle etc etc) and then put in a new temporary bone and carry out some reconstruction work - which will involve taking bits from other parts of her body!

In about 10-12 weeks time when they are sure that everything is clean and sterile they will operate again and put the permanent new bone in and finish the reconstruction work. In between the operations she will of course have more chemo and more after the second operation.

She has a big team working on her today and all the consultants and surgeons we met this morning were really kind, lovely and positive.

It all feels very surreal - another out of body experience for me!
