Let the fundraising commence...

.....Firstly - wonderful news,  due to your very generous donations a total of £2,530 was given in memory of Ella on or around the 29 November.  This money will be split between St Peters Hospice and the Bone Cancer Research Trust.  My brothers Bob and Jim are arranging the donations in memory of Ella.

Two excellent charities providing very valuable support and effort for people with cancer and their families.

So thank you one and all.

As many of you will know from previous blog posts - Ella was very keen and committed to raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust - specifically the South West appeal to get a new cancer teenage/young adult unit up and running in Bristol in 2014.  A unit like this would mean that 18-24 year olds would not have to be treated on adult oncology wards as Ella was - and as a result would be less likely to feel isolated, afraid and lonely.

We are committed and determined to continue this fund raising effort and push in Ella's name and are setting a target of £10,000 to be raised in 2013.

There are two fund raising initiatives in early planning stages.

BRISTOL 10K - Sunday May 5.  
Mark Kennedy is leading this push and has set up a team name "Run for Ella" - so if you want to be part of the team you simply need to register for the race and put your team name down as "Run for Ella".     In early 2013 we will set up a Just Giving page for the team so that sponsorship money can be collectively raised by all team members.    T Shirts are going to be produced and printed for runners and supporters.  So - just how big can we make the team and how much money can we raise????

BIKE RIDE - date to be confirmed but possibly around Ella's birthday so the weekend of 20/21 July.  Bob Tarzey is leading on this one and planning routes etc - watch this space!

I know we had talked about parties etc - but somehow this does not feel right any more - however we may hold an auction night or any other number of events - and are of course very open to any fund raising ideas and initiatives you may have,  please do share...
