Thoughts, feelings and updates from Allington Rd (and various hospitals) - so you know, because I know you want to know. I started this blog in November 2011 - so there is a big archive section at the bottom of this page if you want to trawl through and get all the past news.

More Bananas....
.... said my lovely Dad (Ella's grandad) - that's what you need to sort out low potassium levels. Well Ella eats one a day, its quite hard to eat any more than that when you are already not that keen on them. But top tip - thanks Dad:)
So Ella is "hooked up" in the chemo day unit at the hospital and is having a litre of potassium as I type - not sure how many bananas that is!
The day unit is a whole new world of cancer that we have hardly seen to date, we are usually up on the ward where they send the "heavies" - the more severe cases needing really hard core chemo over several days. The day unit is where loads of people with cancer go to receive chemo, radiotherapy etc but only need to be there for several hours or less than a day. Its a huge room with lots of reclining chairs and people in them "hooked up". Everyone is reading and looking some how fairly peaceful - like a library with extras (but no bananas)!

I would imagine/hope the 'day' unit is a little less depressing than 'upstairs' then?!
ReplyDeleteBanana sandwich is my favourite, although I do always love a bit of mushy banana (reminds me of being a kid again) All my love, cannot wait to see you all at easter!!! All my love maisy x x x
Sounds like an interesting new adventure. I hope the day unit is good to you, and that you can see more of it, and less of the ward. Also, I really love mushed up banana with honey, and topped off with a spoonful of yogurt :) xxx Georgina
