I blog with exciting news.....

... I got home this evening to pick a piece of paper up off our doormat which announces that I have been given a "Good Garden Award".   The excitement only being marred by the fact I had to rush upstairs to Ella and get her to read the detail out to me, as my glasses were not to hand.

Hey ho that's age for you - both being excited about gardening and needing glasses to read the detail.

Anyway, this is what Ella read out:

You have been awarded a good garden certificate in our 2012 front garden awards.  Thank you for making an effort to brighten up the neighbourhoods. Every Good Garden counts.

The last time I got an award for my gardening was a my miniature gardening badge in the Brownies - so a few years ago!  So thanks Mum for the award and the therapy and pleasure my garden brings me and others :)

  3. I will have to get you to give me lessons next year - I have planted runner beans, french beans, broad beans, sugar snap peas, sweet peas, peppers, tomatoes (various varieties), strawberries and butternut squash and so far .. nothing .. not a sausage. Shelagh

    1. This is not really surprising Shelagh; you would need to install a sty and stock swine to get sausages!

  7. Brilliant - well done you! I would go the whole hog (not for the sausages) and let the world know and stick an enlarged and laminated version of your certificate on the wall Jo..we have gone for the au natural look in our front bit (for that read weeds!)though I'm very taken with the 'Every Good Garden Counts' mantra which should be automatically followed by 'Every Good Gardener Deserves Champagne.' xxx
