Clearly explained...

....by the Doctor who will be looking after Ella during her Radiotherapy treatment.

Very matter of fact, articulate, caring and concise.

Hopefully she will be scanned tomorrow so he can see exactly where to aim "his rays", how deep, angles etc. Then the treatment will start on Monday.  13 daily blasts of about three minutes - focusing on her arm and collar bone area to start with.

The hope is that the radiotherapy will shrink the tumours - so Ella will be in less pain and able to get on and enjoy life.

We started off today's appointment by seeing the lovely "Dr D" - Dr Dangoor - who as many of you will know has been the oncologist who has worked so hard to treat Ella with chemotherapy over the past 12 months.  To say he was upset with the recent outcome would be an understatement - that goes for all the Doctors, nurses and teams that have treated Ella during her cancer journey.

Ella's PICC line came out of her arm - which was great, but can only be truly appreciated by those who have had one in for 16 months!  (The PICC is where all the chemo was pumped into Ella's body over the many, many days and nights in hospital)

We asked lots of practical questions about the treatment and options, but based on good advice from our Macmillan nurse we did not ask difficult and emotional questions like "how long etc etc "?   We don't need to know and nor do you - lets all just settle for as long as possible.
