.. Ella says "Mum - keep your posts positive, no negative stuff".
Sorry babe, tonight I am going to spill some of the raw facts, so everyone knows (if they want to) and can continue to spread the message and provide support whenever possible in what ever shape or form to support charities trying to find ways to cure this vile disease.
So in addition to cancer - Ella is now juggling the following side effects in no particular order:
Pain - from tumour sites and fractured bones
Sickness/nausea - maybe cocktail of drugs and/or the disease itself
Dizzy spells - take your pick
Dry mouth - radiotherapy (eating and swallowing becoming difficult)
Sore Throat - radiotherapy
Sweats - no one clear on this one - general consensus re cause = "the disease"
General aches and discomforts in back, neck and shoulders from poor posture due to sling wearing, having to sleep sitting up, carrying broken arm around etc etc
Discomfort and pressure from swollen arm (the tumour has made Ella's right arm and hand very swollen, heavy and tight - hopefully the radiotherapy will alleviate this)
Exhaustion - from all of the above
Raging thirst - from all of the above
... and there are others.
Rubbish, isn't it??
Fourth radiotherapy session this evening - just a 60 minute delay and wait
Through all the above - I have to tell you that Ella rarely complains, but continues to say "thank you" for everything I do for her, and simply says "at least I am not in hospital, and where is Brian?" What a girl.
What a girl is right - she is amazing. Love to you all - GAJ xxxx
ReplyDeleteIndeed what a girl; an example to us all when we are moaning about some minor delay (what me!?)
ReplyDeleteThe Duke of Connaught team has so far raised around £3K for Movember (10% from me), but that is aimed at men's cancer in particular. I have not asked for contributions from Ella's front line fan club (other than family - thanks) as I know we will be focussed on raising funds for charities related to sarcoma and teenage cancer in the coming months, Love Rob
That's a sh**load of stuff to deal with each day. Crikey Ella! What an inspiration to us all. ...and thanks Jo, it's right that we are reminded of all the stuff this horrible disease brings with it . Love to you all xx
ReplyDeleteNothing to add or say and I would suggest the lack of commentary says it all....... What can you say, without breaking the rules! Far too much for anyone to take on..... If it lightens the mood at all, have just spent a whole day on Divali (the festival of light in Indai) and have watched the pilgrims bathing in The Ganges, and seen more firecrackers and fireworks lit than your average Nov 5th in UK..... But oh my god the poverty reeks out here..... Nothing to do with the Blog but as I say nothing to add at all....good post sis....x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo for giving it as it is. It is much appreciated. Reading Ella's blog I shall treat Mondays differently in future. Learning from the youngsters is always good. Love Anne and Peter x
ReplyDeleteI can only agree - what a girl - and what a mum !! xxxxxxxx Suzy
