... are the words I am fairly sure Ella would have said about yesterday.
A day to never forget - with my overriding memories being-
Beauty - the place, the sun, the words and Ella in her coffin surrounded by flowers and everyone who loved her
Footwear - loved the wellies, the DM's (in every shape and colour including fluorescent pink) and other assortment of wonderful "suitable boots and shoes". Ella would have most certainly approved.
Hugs - at every turn , another pair of arms to fall into
The smell of Rosemary and curiosity 'What did we all write" - but know it would have been right
Gentleness and steadiness as my brothers and Bob carried Ella out to the background noise of sobs, tears and "Time of your life"- Green Day lyrics and music
High blue sky's - with purple balloons soaring away
....and when the time came - finding the most important person in my life right next to me - helping me put one foot in front of the other. The very beautiful and amazing Sophie
Love - for Ella and for all of us from all of you - thank you for making it the day that Ella would have said "so... that was alright then".
Over the weekend I will post many of the words and readings from Ella's ceremony.
It's very, very quiet today.
So glad to hear you all had a beautiful and special day. Very appropriate for Ella and you all x
ReplyDeleteLooking forwards to seeing those posts and the photos too xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt was a very beautiful ceremony Jo with space and time to remember, to share, to laugh and to cry. We hope that you can all take time now to gather your thoughts and memories and to spend with those you hold dear xxxx

ReplyDeleteRob was very moved yesterday and told me about one of the songs that was played for Ella which he said I would have loved to hear, so here are the words!
Another turning point a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable but in the end
It's right I hope you've had the time of your life
So take the photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos and memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable but in the end
It's right I hope you've had the time of your life!
I am sure Ella would have wanted everyone to remember It's the time and to live every day as though it was the time of your life!
Hope I can see you soon and to give you the hug I was unable to give you yesterday!
Jayne xx
Thanks Jayne - yes Ella's favourite song and she knew the words off by heart! See you soon x
DeleteIt was indeed a most special day - not only was it the most unbelievably clear and sunny one between so many grim and dismal ones, but the depth of feeling which was so evident for Ella was immense. All who were there could not help but have been moved by so many lovely touches ...the setting/the words/the photos/the friends. Hats off Jo - that was definitely "all right". xx Aza
ReplyDeleteHi Jo. The words you shared yesterday were the ones that moved me the most and made me laugh and cry at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I came over to fix something in Ella's room and I saw the Green Day poster on her wall and thinking 'Great! Something I can talk about to her' and not just struggle to find out what she liked or work there in silence!
I know I've told you before as has Jayne. We are here if you need us and two of the many who hold you in our thoughts.
I was talking to Mark too and tell him I am ready to support him in what he shared about raising money through our running, plus I may have a few more who are interested too!!!
See you soon
Rob
The day was a wonderful tribute to Ella - Love to you all Janexxxx
