Ella.
A
girl who brings a smile to my face, warmth to my soul and treasured memories.
Me
and Ella: we were really good at doing things together,
Whether
that was doing past papers, not doing past papers, getting too involved in
Wimbledon, singing along to our favourite songs, eating waffles, drinking
Belgium beer, getting the giggles in lessons;
Me -
always a cacophony of cackles, Ella: a somewhat more elegant silent fit of the
giggles, tears streaming down her chuckling face! Our optimistic, possibly
over-optimistic, attempt at becoming the schools first green eco-prefects.
I’ve
got beautiful memories of the fun we had – all the way back to the first time
we met-up outside of school.
It
took us 24 takes whilst making a science video to get a clip that didn’t end in
a fit of the giggles from one, or more often, both, of us.
For
me personally I can’t think of Ella without sun, sea and Woolacombe,
The
picture of the roaring waves, Lundy in the distance, the sand at my feet, and
Ella by my side.
Stop
all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
mourn
with those who mourn, Rejoice with those who rejoice,
laugh
and cry with the same eyes,
Love.
Love
always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love
never fails,
Ella’s
love never failed, her love of life, her love for her friends and family
persevered through all.
A
friend recently said to me: Don’t you find it amazing how our fates intertwine
and how the ones who have left can leave a mark upon the ones who stay?
Ella’s
courageous fight has left a mark upon me, everybody here, and everyone else who
went through it with her.
A
mark which will never disappear, but will stay with you and help shape your own
life from now on.
She
may have lost her fight with cancer, but I can assure you she lost nothing
else:
She
Never lost her spirit, and passion for life,
Including
her joy of art, most recently - the nail variety! her desire for good food, and
love of live music.
Which
reminds me just -
“How
lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
That
was a quote from AA Milne and I’d like to finish on another, that both Ella and
I thought was gorgeous:
“We’ll
be friends forever won’t we pooh?’ asked Piglet. ‘Even longer,’ Pooh answered.”
What an amazing friendship, it's been said many times that Ella brought joy & fun to everyone, she was truly an inspiration x
